Five Businesses Expelled from the BBB. Accreditation Revoked for Area Roofing, Retail and Professional Service Companies

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) Board of Directors voted to revoke the accreditation of the following businesses:

  • Associated Construction with a BBB F rating of Manlius, NY because the business failed to comply with agreed BBB standards and failed to respond to a repair issue complaint filed against the business.

  • Devine’s Complete Home Improvement with a BBB F rating of Buffalo, NY because the business failed to comply with agreed BBB standards and failed to respond to a delivery issue complaint filed against the business.

  • Ebiz Site Designs with a BBB D- rating of Rochester, NY because the business failed to comply with agreed BBB standards, the number of complaints filed against business that were unresolved, the number of serious complaints filed against the business and the length of time business has taken to resolve complaint(s).

  • Seneca Hawk Tobacco with a BBB F rating of Irving, NY because business failed to comply with agreed BBB standards and failure to respond to a selling practice complaint filed against business.

  • Upright Custom Homes with a BBB F rating of Masonville, NY because the business failed to comply with an arbitration decision, failed to comply with agreed BBB standards and the number of complaints filed against business that were unresolved.

"Consumers have a choice and in these economic times one thing that every marketplace buyer wants and needs is response to their concerns if a problem occurs,” said David Polino, Better Business Bureau President. “Expulsion is always unfortunate and businesses are given many opportunities to resolve complaints brought to their attention. It only takes one unanswered or unresolved complaint to lose their BBB Accreditation. They simply must respond,” Polino added.

Revocation of BBB Accreditation occurs after a thorough review process by the BBB Ethics and Standards Committee and Board of Directors. "Accreditation Status" is one factor that impacts a business rating with the BBB. BBB’s letter grade rating system, announced in January of this year, gives businesses an A+ through F letter rating and replaces the scale of “satisfactory” or “unsatisfactory” used in the past.

The BBB requires that BBB Accredited Businesses maintain a B letter grade or higher. Failure to respond to complaints brought to their attention by the BBB is a breach to the BBB Standards for Trust that each Accredited Business must uphold. Some BBB Accreditation Standards include adherence to BBB standards of advertising and selling as outlined in BBB Code of Advertising, prompt response to any and all complaints, making a good faith effort to resolve complaints in accordance with generally accepted good business practices, cooperation with BBB efforts and activities to promote self-regulation, and that an Accredited Business must eliminate the underlying causes of complaint patterns that are brought to their attention by the BBB.

BBBOnLine is a program that promotes trust and confidence on the Internet. Expulsion from the BBB also results in termination of BBB OnLine affiliation. BBBOnLine is the largest consumer assurance program of its kind on the internet.
