The Better Business Bureau (BBB) Board of Directors voted to revoke the accreditation of the following business:
- Vaspian, LLC, of Buffalo, NY, BBB Accreditation was revoked because the business failed to comply with agreed BBB standards, specifically as the standard relates that a company file can not have any unresolved complaints.
“The BBB provides each business ample time to resolve matters prior to revoking an Accreditation,” said David Polino, Better Business Bureau President. “Expulsion is always an unfortunate outcome however this action does remind consumers and business owners alike that we take our Standards for Trust very seriously and that we are committed to providing important pre-purchase information that include BBB ratings to assist individuals with their buying decisions.”
Vaspian provides business telephone systems, computer networks, voice over IP, cabling and consulting and had been BBB Accredited since 2006. On September 24, 2009, the company filed for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the federal Bankruptcy Act. This permits the company to continue to operate with court supervision while developing a plan of reorganization.
“Each time we expel a business for not doing what they said they would, we’re doing our best job for consumers,” added Polino. “Trust in the marketplace is critical and we work everyday to provide the most comprehensive business reports for consumers to rely upon.”

Revocation of BBB Accreditation occurs following a careful review process by the BBB Ethics and Standards Committee and Board of Directors. "Accreditation Status" is one factor that impacts a business rating with the BBB. The BBB announced a letter grade rating system last year, giving businesses an A+ through F letter ratings replacing the old “satisfactory” or “unsatisfactory” rating and requires that BBB Accredited Businesses maintain a B letter grade or higher. There are 17 weighted factors that make up a business’s grade - one of which is whether or not a business is accredited or not. Both BBB Accredited Business and non-accredited businesses receive letter ratings.
Failure to respond to complaints brought to their attention by the BBB is a breach to the BBB Standards for Trust that each Accredited Business must uphold. Some BBB Accreditation Standards include adherence to BBB standards of advertising and selling as outlined in BBB Code of Advertising, prompt response to any and all complaints, making a good faith effort to resolve complaints in accordance with generally accepted good business practices, cooperation with BBB efforts and activities to promote self-regulation, and that an Accredited Business must eliminate the underlying causes of complaint patterns that are brought to their attention by the BBB.
